September 1857
- St. John's School opened at 308 "C" Street, La Porte, IN, less than two months
after the church was organized
April 9, 1893
- Work began to erect a new school building on
the old site
1945
- A new kindergarten was added to the
eight grades already taught
1961
- Property was purchased to build a new school
next to the new church site at Kingsbury and Monroe in La Porte
April 1968
- Ground was broken for the
School and Activities Building. It was dedicated on September 21, 1968
1979
- The ground breaking took place for a new
school Gymnasium and Activities Center. This section of the school building was
dedicated on January 18, 1981
2000
- Mrs. Mindy Bremer called as School Principal
2000 -
Addition of a computer lab in the School Library
2001 -
Addition of Internet service to the school
2001 -
Mrs. Bremer takes a call as a DCE at Immanuel Lutheran, Valparaiso; Mr. David
Wippich takes over as Interim Principal.
2002 -
Mr. David Wippich called as School Principal
2002-2003 -
School adds new fire alarm system
2005 -
Ms. Kristi Georgi is called as the new 7th grade teacher
2008 - Miss
Erin Ponder from Kokomo, Indiana, will be joining our staff as our new 5th
Grade teacher. She will be completing course work this summer and receive her
diploma from Concordia University-Chicago. Also, Megan Nieman, a new graduate from Valparaiso University, is hired to teach 3rd grade.
