This Week at St. John’s

4th Sunday in Lent—March 18, 2007

From Pastor Brauer

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Welcome to St. John’s Lutheran Church. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are” (1 John 3:1). God the Father created us; we are His. God the Father redeemed us; we are His. God the Father continues to love us; we are still His. One son, however, needed to find out for himself of the love of his father in the parable Jesus told. The other son continues to struggle with that love. Which son are you?

SPECIAL NEEDS: Persons unable to climb stairs to the altar are invited to sit in the extra-wide front pews to receive communion or to place a walker.

ST. JOHN’S COMMUNION STATEMENT: As a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we believe Scripture teaches that the Lord's Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith. Because the Bible teaches that this sacrament may also be spiritually harmful if misused, St. John’s communes only those instructed in the teachings of the LCMS and our church who have confessed their faith in these teachings. Prompted by the love for God’s Word, love for God’s people, and love for the Bible’s deep concern for doctrinal truth (Romans 16:17), guests who desire to commune are asked to speak with the pastor before service.

FELLOWSHIP COFFEE: All are invited to our Fellowship Coffee across the driveway in our School Cafeteria following the 8:00 AM Sunday Service.

BIBLE CLASSES: Adult Bible Study follows the Fellowship Coffee in the Cafeteria at 9:30 AM.
