This Week at St. John’s 4th Sunday of Easter—April 29, 2007 From Pastor Young: Greetings in Christ Jesus! God’s people are cared for by the Good Shepherd himself who laid down his life for the sheep. He now guides us as we participate in his death by repentance and Baptism. He brings us with him to the paschal banquet. He anoints us with his Spirit so we may pass through this life safely and at last come through death into that great multitude which is gathered around the throne and the Lamb. May we always listen to the Shepherd’s voice.
"A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT" Acts 20:17-35: Included among Paul’s parting words to the Ephesian elders
were these words of our Lord: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
God’s faithful stewards know from personal experience how true this is! May God
help us all more and more to excel in giving. ANNOUNCEMENTS New Bible Study: Pastor Young has begun a new Bible Study on “Marriage & Family.” Join us today in the cafeteria between services. SPECIAL NEEDS: Persons unable to climb stairs to the altar are invited to sit in the extra-wide front pews to receive communion or to place a walker. ST. JOHN’S COMMUNION STATEMENT: As a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we believe Scripture teaches that the Lord's Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith. Because the Bible teaches that this sacrament may also be spiritually harmful if misused, St. John’s communes only those instructed in the teachings of the LCMS and our church who have confessed their faith in these teachings. Prompted by the love for God’s Word, love for God’s people, and love for the Bible’s deep concern for doctrinal truth (Romans 16:17), guests who desire to commune are asked to speak with the pastor before service.FELLOWSHIP COFFEE: All are invited to our Fellowship Coffee across the driveway in our School Cafeteria following the 8:00 AM Sunday Service. BIBLE CLASSES: Adult Bible Study follows the Fellowship Coffee in the Cafeteria at 9:30 AM. SUNDAY SCHOOL begins at 9:25 AM in the Church Lower Level.

Ascension Day Worship This comes as a reminder to mark your calendars and prayerfully consider Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 7 P.M. for our Ascension Day worship. While many churches fail to gather for worship on this important Christ event, St. John’s will meet to affirm our believe in the ascension of Jesus Christ, who will go to prepare a place for us in the Father’s heavenly mansion. The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.
