This Week at
St. John’s
From Pastor Brauer: Welcome to St. John’s! “For God has visited and redeemed His people,” we sing in the Benedictus. God comes today in Word and Sacrament to heal us, even to raise us from the dead. Elijah’s raising of the widow of Zarephath’s son is a foreshadow of Jesus’ raising of the widow of Nain’s son. A great prophet Elijah was; a greater Prophet is Jesus, for He is the Son of God. He touched death that day and bid it to leave. He does the same for us as we hear the words of absolution and our souls are raised to new life in Christ. This is not something man made up, but comes to us by revelation from Jesus Christ in the Gospel. In faith we can call to God in the day of our troubles, even in death, for He will deliver us and we will honor Him with our lives.
"A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT" Galatians 1:11-24: The God who by grace changed Paul from being a fierce persecutor of the church to becoming a powerful spokesman of the good news of salvation in Jesus is the same God who works in us by His grace. The result is that we become His stewards who do the right things for the right reasons.

SPECIAL NEEDS: Persons unable to climb stairs to the altar are invited to sit in the extra-wide front pews to receive communion or to place a walker. ST. JOHN’S COMMUNION STATEMENT: As a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we believe Scripture teaches that the Lord's Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine, for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith. Because the Bible teaches that this sacrament may also be spiritually harmful if misused, St. John’s communes only those instructed in the teachings of the LCMS and our church who have confessed their faith in these teachings. Prompted by the love for God’s Word, love for God’s people, and love for the Bible’s deep concern for doctrinal truth (Romans 16:17), guests who desire to commune are asked to speak with the pastor before service.FELLOWSHIP COFFEE: All are invited to our Fellowship Coffee across the driveway in our School Cafeteria following the 8:00 AM Sunday Service.
